XGames 3D Movie is a spectacle for the eyes. Although a MTV production, the film is slickly produced and provides a lot of bang for the cinematic buck. The documentary follows extreme sports participants in a variety of competition settings. Clearly the American spirit of winning is the basic tenet of the movie.
While watching these men compete (for some reason, the producers/directors chose not to feature any women), the audience learns about the motivation of these men as they challenge themselves, their aching bodies, their tired minds, and each other. While competitors at heart, these men are members of an elite athletic fraternity and they truly seem to care for each other.
While the competitions amaze in the movie, the editing leaves a lot to be desired. Why directors can’t comprehend a completed story line in a documentary is beyond my comprehension. It seems as if the director was afraid to run over into Real World Tahiti’s time slot and decided to conclude the film.
If you want to see faster, higher, and dangerous, skate on over to the theater to see this movie. Unfortunately, this movie simply will not translate well to the small screen.
I rate this movie two watches.
