Day 234--The Time Traveler's Wife

I really wanted to hate this movie for a variety of reasons. First, the whole concept of time travel was kinda cheesy for me. Second, after seeing Eric Bana in Funny People, I didn’t know what to expect. Finally, it is a serious date flick and I was going alone.

I was mildly surprised at the movie. Once I accepted the fact that time travel happens (which is a big suspension of disbelief for me) and you go with the flow of the movie, I relaxed and enjoyed the movie for what it is.

The movie is very beautiful to watch and the acting is very good. The chemistry between Bana and Rachel McAdams was excellent. Not having read the book, the conclusion was a little contrived and too easily guessed which to me were the weakest points of the movie.

This is definitely a date movie but one that can easily be seen on the small screen.

On a personal note,

Dear Mr. Bana,
In the future when you are scheduled to appear nude in a film: either do some extra squats or get a better butt double.

I rate this movie two watches.

  1. I saw a couple of trailers for this movie, and they just didn't seem that appealing (seemed rather schmaltzy). I loved Eric Bana in Munich (although no nude scenes that I can remember). I don't know, I think his talents are not really being utilized all that well.

  2. Eric Bana was good in Munich. In this, he does well. I just don't think that he is picking good movies for himself.
