Day 150--Every Little Step

Every Little Step is the documentary of the casting of A Chorus Line Revival that played in New York City for 18 previews and 759 regular performances from 2006 to 2008.

If you are a fan of A Chorus Line or if you are a fan of performance based reality shows, you will enjoy the movie. For me, it was a little pedestrian. The typical stereotypes are presented—the diva, the newcomer, the aging performer, the egomaniac, etc.

I don’t know how true the characterizations were or if the personas were created through editors to make the documentary a little more interesting. This is the same problem that I have with reality TV—we are getting the characters that the producers want for us because THEY think it is more interesting.

The show was enjoyable and I should have waited for it to come out on Netflix but I am glad I got to see the movie on the big screen. A Chorus Line has always been one of my favorite musicals. I have seen it in numerous manifestations from Broadway to regional theater to high school productions.

This one can wait for the small screen. I rate this movie three watches.
