I have to preface this review by saying that I enjoyed Dan Brown’s books. Granted, they are not the best written books. Granted, the plausibility of the plots are not even remotely feasible. Finally, I don’t care if Catholics or religious people are offended—these are works of fiction. If your faith is so fragile that you can’t survive a work of fiction that uses your beliefs as a foundation then you should be going to church more often. Also, if you haven’t read the books or seen the movies, you have no basis on which to criticize the movies or books. Simply because someone told you what was in the book doesn’t make you an expert desiring the boycotting of the books or the movies.
Also, I am not a big fan of Tom Hanks.
I found the movie entertaining especially since I pretty much recalled the specifics of the book. I was glad to see that a lot of the anti-Catholic sentiment was removed from the movie. I was not happy to see the character of the assassin watered down.
I enjoyed the movie primarily because I reviewed it as a travelogue of Rome which brought back some wonderful memories of times that I had spent there. Other than that, the movie is a dud. The movie is a beautiful movie to see and it moves fast. I do think that the movie is about 30 to 45 minutes too long.
I rate this movie 2 watches.
