Day 123--Fighting

I’ve always been a fan of Channing Tatum. I even enjoyed the Step Up movies because I enjoy any movie that deals with dancing and beating the odds—Flashdance, Save the Last Dance, etc. I especially enjoyed Tatum in Stop Loss and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. It doesn’t hurt that he looks good.

The plot of the movie is very simplistic. You will figure out what happens probably within minutes. The premise of the movie is a little too convenient and you definitely have to suspend your sense of disbelief.

The main problem that I had was that I watched the movie in the Bronx at one of the local movie theaters. I didn’t feel like going into Manhattan to one of my regular movie theaters. Since it was such a gorgeous day outside, I decided to walk to my local movie theater. The locals have no sense of decorum when watching a movie. First of all, it seemed to be family day. There were three large families there with children in strollers. Why parents would bring their 3 and 5 year olds to see a movie about fighting is beyond me. Second, the movie is about NYC. So every time a local landmark or train station was featured, we would hear—“Yo, dat’s 176th station. My sister lives there.”

The only redeeming grace of the movie is the character of the girlfriend’s grandmother. Also, featured were the cleanest NYC subway cars that I have ever seen. Too bad they are that clean in real life.

This one is rated four watches.
