There really isn’t any reason to watch this movie—not even on DVD. If someone wants to buy you a ticket, so no because you will never be able to recover the two hours of your life.
In fairness, I have never been a big Robert Downey Jr. fan. I don’t know why. Granted, he is a great actor. I never really though him to be hot but some people do.
As for Jaime Foxx, I think he was hoping to get an Academy Award nomination. You see, people with disabilities almost always get considered. But I am tired of people wanting to play savants or disabled people in the movies. If you want to see a passable movie about a musical savant, see August Rush from last year. At least it has Robin Williams in it.
As for The Soloist, the plot is too thin. There is no suspense in that you know how it will end. Other than one scene that jumps out at you, there isn’t anything noteworthy. There isn’t any epiphany—no one is the better for having seen the movie. If the movie was supposed to be about homelessness, there are better movies out there.
If you are a fan of Beethoven, listen to your CD collection and skip this movie. This movie rated five watches.
